DNA COAT COLOR TESTING

In late 2008 I had all my foundation appaloosas coat color tested by the University of California, Davis. Hair samples from the mane or tail of

each individual horse is DNA tested and the results were very encouraging for my BLACK leopard breeding program.

All my foundation horses tested HOMOZYGOUS (dominant black gene) for  BLACK -

the results are listed below:

ROCKLEDGEPEBBLES TLC - EEAa

ROCKLEDGE ZEBRA TLC - EEaa

SUGARS BLACK NUGGET - EEaa

ECLATS SURPRISE - EEaa

ULRICH JEWELS RUBY - EEAa

GHOSTWIND FABLE TLC - EEAa (test done June 2009)

Tennessee Walking Horse Coat Color Testing :

Apps John Henry NER - tested June 2009 - at University of California Davis

EEaa - Homozygous black with no agouti (the bay points) gene

NN - does not have a copy of the grey gene
